
Matt Nixon is a Managing Director and Global Head of Talent for Barclays. In this role he is responsible for Board level talent review, assessment and succession management across the bank, and is currently leading changes driven by the "One HR" agenda for talent, leadership development and learning. He joined Barclays in 2011 to work for the Group HR Director.
Before this, Matt was Head of Organisation Effectiveness for Royal Dutch Shell for six years, based in London and the Hague in the Netherlands. In that role he worked closely with the CEO and the teams responsible for restructuring Shell in 2009, as well as a wide range of internal leadership, culture and organisation performance improvement work around the world, including interventions with diverse leadership teams and operations in Africa, Russia, the Middle East and Asia. He also sat on Shell's global governance team for learning, leadership and organisation issues.
Prior to this role he was a Principal (partner) at Towers Perrin, the consulting firm. He joined the firm in Chicago, and subsequently worked in the UK and Europe. Matt's work there included leading the UK rewards and performance management group, and his clients included Ofcom, the British Museum and Cafe Direct. His early career was spent with Accenture and Metapraxis in the UK, working with a range of public and private sector clients.
Matt is a UK citizen. He and his wife Terri have two adopted children aged 5 and 6, and live in London. When time permits, Matt is a runner and a jazz musician.
